Dentures

DenturesDentures are a removable tooth restoration that may replace either some teeth or all of a person’s teeth. They are usually made of acrylic resin but can also have porcelain and metal for added strength and aesthetic appeal. Dentures are custom made for an ideal fit, and they can improve a person’s ability to eat and speak comfortably.

If you have lost your teeth, dentures can give you back the beauty and functionality of your smile. Our dentist will be happy to discuss your options with you to determine which solution will be best for your unique situation.

Full dentures

Full dentures replace all of your upper or lower teeth. Upper dentures are designed to replace your upper teeth, while lower dentures are designed to replace your lower teeth. Although your new dentures should fit well enough that suction and gravity hold them securely in place, you may feel more comfortable using a denture adhesive for added security while eating. Dental implants may also be a good solution for maintaining jawbone density and providing a stable fit. If you have had all your teeth pulled, you may be able to wear dentures as soon as the healing process is complete.

Partial Dentures

If you are only missing some teeth, partial dentures may be an appropriate solution. This type of denture has metal clips to attach them to your natural teeth. Not only can they be extremely natural looking, but they can also improve your oral health by maintaining the appropriate spacing between your teeth and reducing the risk of tooth loss-related gum disease and tooth decay.

Dentures need proper maintenance, just as your own natural teeth do. Although you will not be brushing your dentures, it is crucial that you clean them according to our dentist’s instructions and keep current with your routine dental checkups. Dentures may last from five to 10 years, and you may need periodic adjustments to ensure an appropriate fit.
