Zoom Whitening
Many teeth whitening procedures are available today that claim to reduce or eliminate stains and leave patients with whiter, brighter smiles. Over-the-counter whitening treatments are extremely popular but are not necessarily effective. Even in-office treatments can take multiple visits and treatments to obtain the desired degree of whiteness. Only one teeth whitening procedure can brighten teeth by as much as eight shades in about an hour: Zoom whitening.Zoom teeth whitening is a two-part whitening procedure that dramatically whitens teeth by removing stains deep within the enamel of the teeth. A gel bleaching solution is painted directly to the teeth, and a special laser light is then used to activate the gel. The gel is then able to penetrate the enamel and dentin of the teeth and break up the stains far below the surface.
Our dentist may recommend a thorough cleaning before a Zoom whitening procedure in order to maximize your results. We will also evaluate your oral health in order to ensure your teeth and gums are in good condition and that you are an appropriate candidate for the Zoom procedure.
The gel will be applied and the light will be activated for a 15-minute session, during which you will be free to read, listen to music, or otherwise relax. The treatment will be repeated for three to four 15 minute sessions, for a total of 45 minutes to one hour, depending on the degree of staining and the amount of whitening you desire. In some cases, whitening may enhance the results of other cosmetic dentistry procedures you may be considering, such as dental veneers.
Once you have had a Zoom treatment, your teeth will remain permanently whiter and brighter, but you may need occasional touch-ups in order to maintain the best results. Our cosmetic dentist will provide you with a touch-up kit, custom trays, and instructions for their use. You may also need to avoid or limit foods and beverages that can stain your teeth, such as coffee, red wine, colas, and teas. Brushing twice daily, flossing daily, and visiting our dentist for routine checkups and cleanings can also help maximize your results.
